CATTLE DECAPITATION Drop Off SIX FEET UNDER TOUR After Alleged Sucker Punch

November 6th, 2012

http://www.metalinjection.net/latest-news/drama/cattle-decapitation-drop-off-six-feet-under-tour-after-vocalist-allegedly-sucker-punched-by-chris-barnes

This took place during load out at The Middle East show last night. Full details below from Metal Injection.

Touring can be a stressful situation. If you’re touring as direct support for Six Feet Under, there may be extra stresses of working with vocalist Chris Barnes. A few months ago, we were pretty excited at the thought of Six Feet Under hitting the road with Cattle Decapitation for the Autumn Apocalypse tour, but now it looks like it may all be over.

Earlier this morning, Cattle Decapitation frontman Travis Ryan posted a status to his personal Facebook page that announced the band was dropping off the tour, and that he was not feeling too favorable towards SFU vocalist, Chris Barnes. His status in full:

Chris Barnes is a fucking hack. I’ve personally passed on at least 5 six feet tours over the last 8 or so years because he pulls so much nonsense on the support bands because his ego is astronomical. We’re leaving the Chris Barnes Show tour today. Go to the Chris Barnes show and buy some of their merch. They need it desperately.

A quick peek in the comments, shows a few extra paragraphs of elaboration, which we have pulled for you junkies:

He couldn’t handle the fact that we were destroying him nightly on merch and talked shit about us on stage last night. I went to confront him about that and he sucker punched me as I was talking. He immediately RAN out the door and fled to his bus like he does every night when the two fans that are left for their show are trying to get him to sign something.

We’re leaving because we have no interest in bringing more people to the chris barnes show. There was no “fight”. He punched me, RAN away and a few people saw it. I just walked out told his tour manager the deal, wrapped up the merch and left.

Just don’t go to the show and please get the word out. Cattle Decapitation is not doing this tour as we no longer wish to bring peole to his show. Cuz its HIS show. More than enough people have drilled that fact into us.

he says “what about showing some respect” I laughed, said “respect?” And proceeded to tell him about the time where he spent all night with me outside their bus @ the tail end of the butchered at birth tour in 93 and that respect was paid long ago and he’s since proved to the metal world how much of a bitch he is… I got “dude, in 1993…” In there and he punched me as I was talking. Ran out the door and seriously thinks he’s a bad ass still? Hahaha…

Here’s how Chris Barnes works: punches. Runs. Does the Rocky dance like he’s a badass on his tour bus he’s about to not fuckin afford.

For his part, Chris Barnes kept it short and sweet on his official Twitter page, writing:

If you eat tofu you’ll get you’re ass kicked in a fight. #knocked out

Update: Barnes deleted the above tweet and instead posted this:

Chris Barnes@sixfeetofficial
Bottom line if you break into someone’s back stage start calling them names and get in someone’s face what do u think will happen?

Oh and Btw it WAS NOT a sucker punch. I didn’t even throw a punch.

Certainly, this does not bode well for the tour. What else is interesting is that both bands share the same label, Metal Blade, who can’t be too happy about in-fighting between bands.

At the time of this writing, there is no official word from Barnes or Metal Blade on the future of the tour.

Cattle Decapitation recently released a disgusting new music video for their track “Forced Gender Reassignment.” Meanwhile, Chris Barnes most notably showed up in a used car lot advertisement in Florida.

Frank Mullen: “I’m Not Leaving SUFFOCATION”

November 3rd, 2012

SUFFOCATION will be performing @ The Middle East in Cambridge, MA on November 11th 2012.

Frank Mullen, front man for New York death metal veterans SUFFOCATION, recently gave an interview that spread very quickly about him no longer performing with the band full time.SUFFOCATION, including Frank Mullen, have issued the following statements about the interview.

“I am not leaving SUFFOCATION,” commented Mullen. “Massive one month long touring on my side cannot be done anymore though. When the new album is released next year I will be touring as much as possible to support the album as well as the following year in 2014.”

When I was asked that question in the interview I was taken off guard and didn’t really know what my schedule was going to look like next year and wanted to try and answer. I haven’t given much thought to what our touring schedule would look like since we’ve been in the studio recording the new release. So I’m going to be getting out there as much as I can to support the album and get out there in front of the ones who have supported Suffocation over the years, the true fans. So we are going to be supporting this record as soon as it comes out”

The rest of the band adds:

“We have respected this decision that Frank has made, but by no means does this meanSUFFOCATION will ‘replace’ him with new singer or stop touring. Death metal has been good to us, and we feel fortunate with the success we have achieved. For shows or tours he can’t be a part of there will be a well respected, talented, fill in singer, so we as a band can continue to prosper and bring SUFFOCATION to the fans. Bill Robinson (DECREPIT BIRTH) is a good friend of ours and came through during the European tours when Frank was unable to make the shows, but he was just filling in those two times. The fill-in singer will be announced soon, and we promise that our fans will not be let down. We have been fortunate to make a great living playing music, and are willing to continue to give our fans what they want.”

SUFFOCATION are currently in the finishing stages of their upcoming new album entitled Pinnacle of Bedlam. The record was produced by the band and tracked at Full Force Studios in New York by longtime collaborator Joe Cincotta. The mixing and mastering of the album is set to be handled this time around by world renowned producer/engineer Zeuss (HATEBREED, ARSIS, SUICIDE SILENCE). Pinnacle of Bedlam will feature 10 genre-defining-bone-crushing tracks and also marks the return of drummer Dave Culross, who played with the band previously on their Despise The SunEP.
